Abu Dhabi Art

19 - 23 November 2025
Overview
Booth A12
From November 19 to 23, Nil Gallery presents a selection of contemporary works at Abu Dhabi Art 2025, featuring Søren Sejr, Gommaar Gilliams, and Dimitris Gketsis, exploring memory, perception, and the poetics of materiality across diverse practices.

Søren Sejr  (Denmark) navigates the interplay between intuition and meticulous execution. His canvases, reliefs, and sculptures emerge from a process where spontaneous gestures meet refined layering, producing surfaces that respond to light and the viewer’s movement. Through monochrome and subtle color fields, Sejr’s works reveal delicate textures and compositional nuances that unfold over time, inviting close contemplation.

Gommaar Gilliams (Belgium) creates layered, immersive worlds where abstraction and symbolism coexist. Combining acrylic dyes, oil paints, and oil sticks, he builds dynamic surfaces populated by celestial figures, mythic characters, and animals in dreamlike landscapes. Gilliams’ work evokes memory, nostalgia, and universal narratives, offering a visual language that is intimate yet resonant across cultures.

Dimitris Gketsis (Greece) draws on Greek mythology and cultural memory to illuminate contemporary life. His immersive visual narratives bridge history, identity, and imagination, transforming archetypal stories into spaces for reflection. Gketsis’ work invites viewers to reimagine their own histories and to connect with enduring cultural legacies.

Together, these artists reveal the capacity of painting to convey what cannot be spoken. Through abstraction, layered symbolism, and mythic storytelling, their works create spaces where memory, emotion, and imagination converge, offering a contemplative and immersive encounter with contemporary art.
