Kaloki Nyamai was born in Kenya and now works in Nairobi. His style is charged, visceral, brutally honest and often political. His use of mixed media including metal, found objects, organic matter, textiles, charcoal, etc., is a testament to the exploration and depth of his œuvre.
Nyamai examines the past and patterns of human behavior through shared stories and cultural ancestry. Works that are full of symbolism and meaning present viewer with a polemic about the implications of colonialism, violence, and imperialism.
He has exhibited in galleries across Africa and Europe since 2011.
